Mohamad Aslam Marchant Arrested in Vishrantwadi Drug Case

Pune police recently apprehended 48-year-old Mohamad Aslam Marchant from Bharuch, Gujarat, in connection with the Vishrantwadi drug case. Marchant, a key figure in the drug supply chain, was arrested on Friday and presented in court, where he was granted police custody until August 21.

According to Senior Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam, Marchant played a significant role in supplying drugs to Nimish Abnave, who had previously been arrested. Abnave, in turn, was responsible for distributing the drugs within Pune city.

The investigation began last week when the anti-narcotics cell of Pune city police seized narcotic substances, specifically Mephedrone, worth Rs1 crore, from an apartment in Tingrenagar. The seizure was part of a broader operation targeting the drug trafficking network in the region.
