Modesto Man Arrested for Auto Theft While Out on Bail

CERES, CA — A 51-year-old Modesto man, Kenneth McWilliam, was arrested Friday afternoon for auto theft while out on bail for a previous auto theft charge.

At 2:48 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Ian Perry was patrolling near Fowler Road and Rose Avenue when he spotted a white Nissan Rogue that he suspected was stolen. Officer Perry followed the vehicle as McWilliam drove into the parking lot of Chicago Pizza at 1825 Mitchell Road. After additional officers arrived, a high-risk stop was executed, and both McWilliam and his passenger were removed from the vehicle.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that McWilliam was out on bail and on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle. He was subsequently arrested on new charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, auto theft, and committing a crime while out on bail. McWilliam was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

The passenger in the vehicle was determined to be uninvolved in the incident and was released from the scene.
