Mobile Men Arrested for Renting Stolen Homes to Tenants

Mobile, Ala. — On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at around 7:24 p.m., Mobile Police responded to a report of stolen property at a residence on the 2100 block of Webb Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that someone had unlawfully occupied the home.

The investigation revealed that the property owner, who runs a business leasing homes in the city, arrived at the property to find an unknown person inside. Upon further inquiry, it was learned that the home had been listed on social media and rented out by an unidentified individual, who collected money from the unsuspecting tenant.

In addition to this incident, the business owner discovered another home she owned on the 200 block of Parkway Drive W. was also being occupied by unauthorized tenants.

Through the investigation, Mobile Police identified and located two male suspects, Tarus Wilson, 19, and Quinton Rogers, 26. The two were arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

This case highlights the growing issue of fraudulent property rentals, with scammers taking advantage of unsuspecting tenants and renting out stolen properties. Wilson and Rogers are now facing charges related to the theft of property and fraudulent rental practices.
