Mobile Man Arrested After Theft at Best Buy and Stolen Vehicle Discovery

A 60-year-old man from Mobile is behind bars after he was allegedly caught stealing merchandise from a Best Buy store on Tuesday, January 7.

According to the Mobile Police Department, officers responded to the theft report at the Best Buy located at 1310 Tingle Circle East. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect, later identified as John French, was still on the property.

Further investigation revealed that French was driving a vehicle that had been reported as stolen. In addition to the theft charge, French was found in possession of marijuana, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.

French was arrested and booked into Metro Jail on charges including second-degree retail theft, first-degree receiving stolen property, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
