In a shocking case of employee fraud, Mitesh Raval, a relationship manager at a car showroom in Ahmedabad, has been arrested for embezzling over Rs 20.35 lakh. The scam, which targeted unsuspecting customers, came to light when it was revealed that Raval had taken money from six customers, promising car deliveries that never materialized.
The scam began in July 2023, when Raval took booking amounts from customers either in cash or via online transfers. The customers, expecting timely delivery of their cars, were instead left waiting. One customer approached the showroom in September, reporting that despite paying the booking amount in July, their car had not been delivered. This prompted an internal investigation by the showroom’s manager, Dhandeep Rajput.
Upon further scrutiny, it was discovered that Mitesh Raval had fraudulently transferred the booking amounts into his own account. The showroom manager then filed a formal complaint with the Sola Police, leading to Raval’s arrest.
The police have registered a case of embezzlement and fraud, and investigations are ongoing to identify other potential victims or connections to larger fraudulent activities.
