The Missouri Attorney General’s Office is pursuing criminal charges against Brian Sides, a contractor from Taney County, accused of defrauding a customer out of nearly $14,500 for solar panel installation work that was never completed. Sides, 50, faces two felony counts in Taney County Circuit Court, including deceptive business practices and financial exploitation of an elderly person.
In March 2022, Sides, through his business MyPowerGrid, LLC, entered into an agreement with a customer over the age of 60 to install solar panels. The customer paid nearly $14,500, but the work was never completed, and the money was not refunded.
Sides’s company, MyPowerGrid, formed in 2019, has faced multiple lawsuits for failing to deliver services after collecting payments. In a past case in 2012, the Missouri Attorney General took legal action against Sides for similar deceptive practices while operating under different business names.
Despite a permanent injunction prohibiting Sides and his companies from offering home repair or construction services in certain counties, he continued to face legal issues. More recently, in 2023, he was accused of taking $49,000 from another customer for solar panel installation that also went unfinished.
