Miroslav Maksic, 88, Charged with Homicide of Wife in North Port

NORTH PORT, Fla. – An 88-year-old man, Miroslav Maksic, has been arrested on a homicide charge after authorities allege he killed his 76-year-old wife, Miljka Maksic, and staged the scene to appear as a suicide.

Police responded early Sunday morning to a reported suicide at a home on Halladay Street and discovered Miljka’s body. However, further investigation by detectives and the Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that her death could not have been self-inflicted.

As a result, Miroslav Maksic was arrested and charged with one count of homicide. He is currently being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bond. While police have not yet disclosed the exact cause of death, they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crime.

North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison commended the thorough work of the investigators and vowed to seek justice for the victim, ensuring accountability for those responsible.
