A Hollywood woman has been found guilty of orchestrating a fentanyl drug delivery operation that resulted in multiple near-fatal overdoses, federal authorities announced.
Mirela Todorova, 36, also known as “Mimi,” ran a tech-driven drug trafficking ring that employed drivers, including a part-time actor, to deliver fentanyl-laced counterfeit oxycodone pills across Los Angeles County.
Drug Ring Led to Overdoses
From November 2020 to January 2021, three of Todorova’s customers overdosed on fentanyl-laced pills but survived. Despite this, she continued distributing the dangerous drugs until February 2021.
Todorova not only supplied drivers with cellphones and drugs but also managed the operation remotely while in Mexico, where she cared for her pet jaguar, “Princess.”
Search Warrants Uncover Drugs & Drug Trafficking Materials
In March 2021, authorities searched Todorova’s vehicle and home, seizing:
Methamphetamine
Cocaine
MDMA (Ecstasy)
A fentanyl-laced oxycodone pill
Drug trafficking materials
Despite the evidence, Todorova falsely claimed to federal investigators that she believed the drugs were vitamins and denied involvement in packaging or distribution.
Conviction & Sentencing
After a nine-day trial, Todorova was convicted on multiple charges, including:
Conspiracy to distribute controlled substances resulting in serious bodily injury
Distribution of fentanyl
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, cocaine, and MDMA
Making false statements to federal investigators
She has been in federal custody since April 2021 and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison at her sentencing on September 12.
Todorova must also forfeit $498,555 in drug proceeds to the government.
Co-Conspirators Plead Guilty
Three others involved in the operation—Mucktarr Kather Sei, Christopher Y. Moreno Núñez, and Ashley Alicia Nicole Johnson—pleaded guilty to felony narcotics distribution charges and await sentencing.
