Thai actress Min Pechaya, alongside TV host Kan Kantathavorn and actor Yuranunt Pamornmontri, has been arrested for promoting The iCon Group, a company alleged to operate a pyramid scheme involving health and dietary supplements.
On Wednesday, a Bangkok court issued arrest warrants for the three celebrities, accusing them of public fraud and falsifying information in a computer system. Prior to their arrests, they were interrogated for more than five hours. Investigations revealed their involvement with The iCon Group, which markets beauty products, dietary supplements, and sales training courses. Min Pechaya held the position of communications director at the company.
During a press conference on October 12, Min expressed regret for joining the organization a year ago, believing it to be reputable, and acknowledged her failure to adequately research its background. She also apologized to those affected by the alleged fraud and confirmed her disassociation from the company.
In connection with the investigation, Thai police have arrested 18 individuals and seized luxury sports cars and millions of dollars. The arrests followed over 1,000 complaints filed against The iCon Group, with victims alleging they were misled into purchasing products and investing money.
At 35, Min Pechaya gained fame after winning Miss Teen Thailand 2006 and is well-known for her roles in films such as “The Intriguing Scheme,” “The Spicy Couple,” and “Twin Storms.” She boasts a following of 7 million on Instagram.
