Miguel Andres-Mateo Arrested by ICE in Cornelia

Cornelia, Ga. – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 20-year-old Miguel Andres-Mateo, a Guatemalan national, on January 21, 2025, in Cornelia. Andres-Mateo had been arrested previously in May 2023 for driving under the influence (DUI) in Habersham County, where he was sentenced to 12 months of probation.

According to ICE, Andres-Mateo entered the United States at an unknown time and location, and an immigration judge had ordered his removal in October 2014. Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Atlanta took him into custody following his arrest.

ICE issued a notice for Andres-Mateo to appear before an immigration judge. He remains in ERO custody as he awaits further legal proceedings.
