OTSEGO COUNTY, MI – John Dominick Bromley, 74, was arrested on February 9, 2025, following an investigation into the death of his wife. Bromley faces charges of aggravated domestic violence and first-degree vulnerable adult abuse after his wife, a 68-year-old woman, passed away from severe injuries linked to years of domestic abuse.
The Michigan State Police (MSP) responded to reports of two individuals squatting in a cabin in June 2024. Upon investigation, troopers discovered that Bromley and his wife were living in the cabin without permission. When questioned, authorities noticed signs of abuse on the wife, including extensive bruising and difficulty breathing. She was immediately transported to the hospital, where she later disclosed a history of domestic abuse. Unfortunately, she passed away a few days later from her injuries.
Bromley attempted to gain access to the morgue after his wife’s death by impersonating a trooper. After a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued, and Bromley was apprehended during a traffic stop in Oakland County for speeding. He was returned to Otsego County and arraigned on charges in the 87-A District Court.
Bromley remains in custody on a $50,000 cash surety bond and is also facing additional charges in Grand Traverse County for impersonating an officer.
