PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Michelle Angela Groover, 52, from Hartselle, was arrested by Priceville Police on Saturday afternoon for fraudulently using a credit card.

The incident occurred on March 1 around 3 p.m., when Priceville Police responded to a fraud report at the Days Inn hotel. According to authorities, Groover had charged a 12-day hotel rental to her ex-spouse’s credit card without his permission.

When police arrived at the hotel, Groover had already left, abandoning a dog in the room she had been staying in. Animal Control took the dog into its care.

At approximately 5 p.m., Hartselle Police located Groover in the 700 block of Morris Street in Hartselle. Priceville Police then arrested her for unauthorized use of a credit card and cruelty to animals.

Groover was taken to the Morgan County Jail, where she was booked and held on a $1,300 bond. Additionally, a hold was placed on her for outstanding arrest warrants from Hartselle and Decatur Police.
