Michael Salinas Arrested for Stealing Lawn Mowers in Del City

Del City police have apprehended Michael Salinas, accused of stealing multiple lawn mowers from homes in close proximity to each other on May 13. The first mower, valued at $450, was taken around 12:30 p.m. and later found at a pawn shop across the street from the police department.

The pawn shop manager recognized the mower from a Facebook post reporting it stolen and refused to complete the transaction. After taking a photo of Salinas’ ID and the mower, the manager contacted the victim, Guadalupe Baza, who confirmed it was her stolen property.

Baza reported that security footage captured Salinas entering her backyard to take the mower, and her daughter managed to document the van and its license plate as it departed. “I always had my lawn mower out… it was just crazy that it was like in the backyard and that’s when it ended up being stolen,” Baza stated.

Police received a second report of a stolen lawn mower just three blocks away on the same day, with that mower valued at $1,000. Thanks to the information shared by Baza, police utilized FLOCK cameras to locate Salinas’ van.

On May 16, Salinas was arrested and admitted to stealing both lawn mowers during an interview. He also confessed to attempting to sell one of them on Facebook.

Salinas was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and faces multiple charges, including grand larceny, violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, possession of stolen property, and petit larceny.
