Michael Robinson and Kemanye Williams Plead Guilty in Walgreens Robbery Scheme

Michael Robinson, 34, and Kemanye Williams, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday to being involved in a series of seven inside-job armed robberies at a Walgreens store in Washington’s Chinatown neighborhood, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

The two men admitted to conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce, aiding and abetting, and using, carrying, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime. The U.S. attorney’s office also confirmed that two other co-conspirators had previously pleaded guilty to their involvement in the robberies.

Gianni Robinson, 27, pleaded guilty on February 28 to conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce and brandishing a firearm during a violent crime. Additionally, London Teeter, 21, another Walgreens store manager, admitted guilt on February 13 for her role in the robbery scheme.

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, the conspirators planned and executed the robberies nearly once a month, starting in July 2023. Michael Robinson, as a Walgreens store manager, used his position to relay vital information, such as security and cash transfer details, which helped Williams commit the robberies.

During each robbery, Williams disguised himself, brandished a firearm at employees and security officers, and stole cash from the manager’s office. Robinson and Teeter pretended to be victims, reviewed surveillance footage, and refined their tactics to make the crimes appear authentic.

Notably, Williams stole firearms from security officers during the December 4, 2023 and February 11, 2024 robberies. On February 12, 2024, law enforcement officers recovered a loaded Glock 45 pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition from a residence shared by Gianni Robinson and Teeter.

The guilty pleas highlight the collaborative nature of the crimes and the serious consequences for the individuals involved in orchestrating the robberies, leading to further investigations into other potential offenses.
