Michael Monheit Arrested for Attempting to Enter Stonewall Pride with Loaded Gun

Wilton Manors Police arrested 31-year-old Michael Monheit after he attempted to enter the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival with a loaded firearm. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday at the event’s east security checkpoint, where metal detectors were in use to ensure attendee safety.

Monheit triggered the metal detector alarm and ignored repeated commands from security and police to stop. Officers detained him and found a loaded gun along with extra loaded magazines, which were confiscated.

Authorities praised the swift response of security and law enforcement in preventing a potential threat and maintaining order at the event.

The investigation into Monheit’s motive is ongoing. He faces charges including trespassing and carrying a concealed firearm.
