Michael McCormack Arrested in Connection to Colorado Business Owner’s Death

Wheat Ridge, CO – The second suspect connected to the November 2023 death of Peter Damien Arguello, a longtime business owner of Peter Damian Fine Jewelry and Antiques, has been arrested. Michael McCormack, 50, was taken into custody Wednesday in Black Hawk, following a March 7 arrest warrant issued by the Wheat Ridge Police Department.

McCormack faces serious charges, including second-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, second-degree motor vehicle theft, and a crime of violence sentence enhancer.

Charles Shay, the first suspect, has been in custody since December 27, 2023. Shay faces first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder related to the robbery and burglary of Arguello’s business.

The tragic incident occurred on November 29, 2023, when police responded to reports of gunfire near Arguello’s business located on W 38th Ave. Witnesses reported seeing Arguello’s body in the parking lot behind the store.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to seek justice for Arguello’s family.
