Michael McCarthy, 36, was sentenced to 30 months and 28 days in prison at Leicester Crown Court on Friday, 4 October, after pleading guilty to burglary, fraud, and assaulting an emergency worker.
The offences occurred earlier this year, when McCarthy broke into a property on Stamford Street, Leicester, overnight between 31 January and 1 February. During the burglary, several items were stolen, including a bank card which was later used fraudulently.
In addition to the burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation, McCarthy also admitted to assaulting an emergency worker during his arrest, when he bit a police officer. He was further charged with possessing a Class B drug.
A second man involved in the same burglary was sentenced in June to two years and six months in prison.
