Michael Leggett Arrested in Utica for Domestic Assault with Weapon

UTICA, N.Y. – A domestic assault investigation in Utica led to the arrest of 57-year-old Michael Leggett on February 27. Utica Police and Fire units responded to a call on Scott Street, where they found a female victim with injuries.

The woman told authorities that during an argument with her husband, she sought refuge in the bathroom. As she attempted to escape, Leggett allegedly continued to approach her and struck her multiple times in the back of the head with a wooden object.

The victim sustained lacerations and pain in the affected area and was transported to Wynn Hospital by Utica Fire Department (UFD) personnel. In accordance with New York State’s mandatory domestic violence arrest laws, Leggett was arrested and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal mischief.
