Michael Howell-McGlynn, Kristine Romero Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Crash

Two men were arrested in connection with a botched armed robbery attempt that resulted in the fatal shooting of a man in northwest Miami-Dade early Wednesday morning.

According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, the incident began just after 1 a.m. near Northwest 22nd Avenue and Northwest 46th Street when the victim was followed by 38-year-old Emanuel Angulo and 24-year-old Jasmine Moore. The pair planned to rob the victim, and Moore distracted him while Angulo attacked him with a large metal ashtray in an attempt to render him unconscious.

After the victim collapsed, Angulo and Moore continued to assault him with a firearm. During the struggle, Moore dropped a Glock Model 23 .40 caliber handgun, which was picked up by 62-year-old Darryl Hargrove, who arrived at the scene shortly after the assault began.

Authorities said that Hargrove used the gun to shoot the victim in the chest. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the shooting, Hargrove allegedly returned the weapon to Moore before fleeing the scene on foot, taking the victim’s backpack, which contained narcotics.

Investigators later found Hargrove at a nearby Dolphin Food Market, where he was arrested and taken to the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Bureau for questioning.

The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Department determined that the victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Hargrove now faces charges of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, while Angulo is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm. Both men are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, but their bonds have not yet been set.

The police have not disclosed the victim’s age or identity, and the motive for the robbery remains unclear. It is also unknown whether Moore will face charges related to her role in the incident.
