Couple Arrested on Miami Beach After $2 Million Jewelry Heist
In a shocking turn of events, Miami Beach police released footage of the dramatic arrest of two suspected jewelry thieves, Meleni García and Orlando Valdés Hernández. The couple was caught relaxing on the beach after allegedly stealing nearly $2 million worth of jewelry from a Nashville store in October.
The Robbery in Nashville
García and Valdés entered the Dubai Jewelry store in southeast Nashville, posing as interested customers. Once inside, they pulled firearms, threatened staff, and tied them up before making off with a large quantity of gold, watches, and luxury items. A third accomplice is still on the loose.
From Heist to Beach Relaxation
Following the robbery, the suspects traveled to Miami Beach, where they stayed at the Grand Beach Hotel. They were photographed enjoying a peaceful day at the beach, completely unaware that law enforcement was hot on their trail. Officers swiftly surrounded them while they were lounging in a hammock, arresting the couple without incident.
A Quick and Professional Response
Captured on body cameras, the arrest shows García and Valdés surrendering by raising their hands and lying down on the sand. During the operation, officers also recovered a wig used in the robbery, as well as a large sum of cash. The couple was swiftly extradited back to Tennessee to face multiple charges, including armed robbery and theft.
