Memphis Woman Arrested for TennCare Fraud: Varoneca Parker’s Indictment

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A recent investigation by special agents from the Medicaid Fraud Control Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) led to the arrest of a Memphis woman, Varoneca Parker, for alleged TennCare fraud.

In January 2024, TBI was alerted by a TennCare Managed Care Organization to reports of fraudulent timesheet submissions by an employee. As agents investigated, they discovered that in July 2023, Parker had billed TennCare for services and time that were never provided.

A Shelby County Grand Jury returned an indictment in March 2025, charging Parker, born on September 26, 1988, with one count of TennCare Fraud. Following her indictment, Parker was apprehended on March 10 and booked into the Shelby County Jail. She was later released on a bond of $20,000.

It’s important to note that the charges and allegations against Parker are not evidence of guilt, but accusations of criminal conduct. She remains presumed innocent until proven guilty through due legal process.
