Melinda McCormick, a 28-year-old woman from Coos Bay, was arrested on Thursday after being accused of stealing more than $22,000 from her employer, the McDonald’s restaurant on South Broadway Street. According to the Coos Bay Police Department, McCormick allegedly failed to deliver several bank deposits over a period of months.
The theft was discovered on November 21, and authorities quickly contacted McCormick, recovering all but approximately $4,700 of the missing deposits. McCormick was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail where she now faces a charge of first-degree aggravated theft.
The investigation continues as police work to resolve the remaining missing funds.
