Meghan Macklin Charged with Murdering 72-Year-Old Richard MacFarland

A woman has been ordered to stand trial for the murder of a 72-year-old man in Wrightstown Township last October.

Meghan Macklin, 46, from Philadelphia, was charged in March with the murder of Richard Scott MacFarland at his home on 55 Apple Hill Road. She was apprehended in Tennessee after fleeing the scene in the victim’s car.

During a preliminary hearing at the Bucks County Criminal Justice Center, Deputy District Attorney Brittney M. Kern presented video and photographic evidence, along with testimony from law enforcement, to establish that Macklin killed MacFarland in his residence. The court heard that their relationship was friendly at times, though it could also be volatile, and Macklin occasionally stayed at his home.
