McMinn County Duo Arrested for Stealing Packages During DoorDash Deliveries

A couple from McMinn County, Tennessee, was arrested on December 14 after being accused of stealing packages from area porches while operating a DoorDash delivery business. The couple, Johnathan Witt, 24, and Brianna Ervin, 27, were charged with theft in McMinn, Bradley, and Hamilton Counties after an investigation into multiple package thefts.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy reported that deputies responded to a call about stolen packages on the 7030 block, where security footage captured a male suspect taking packages from a porch and running to a maroon or burgundy car driven by another individual.

Deputies from both McMinn and Bradley counties coordinated their efforts, and it was soon discovered that Witt and Ervin, based in Riceville, had been involved in similar thefts in the region. McMinn County investigators discovered that the couple was operating a DoorDash business and allegedly stole packages while making deliveries.

Witt, already in custody at the Bradley County Jail, admitted to the thefts in McMinn, Bradley, and Hamilton Counties. Ervin was arrested at a home on County Road 759 and transported to the Bradley County Jail. Some stolen property was recovered during the investigation.

Sheriff Guy urged residents to closely monitor their package deliveries, remain alert for suspicious vehicles, and quickly bring packages inside after delivery to prevent similar thefts.
