Matthew Hutcheson Arrested for August Condo Theft and Fraud Charges

Matthew Hutcheson, 33, of Chicago, was arrested on Christmas Eve near 60 East Benton Place for his involvement in the August 26 condo theft in the 400 block of North Carpenter Street. Hutcheson now faces a series of charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of fraudulent identification, and resisting a police officer.

Background of Previous Arrest

Earlier this year, in June 2024, Hutcheson was arrested for possessing counterfeit USPS keys and fraudulent identification. Despite being granted pre-trial release, he absconded and failed to appear for his court dates, further complicating his legal situation.

Ruth Mendonça, Inspector in Charge of the Chicago Division for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, emphasized the agency’s dedication to protecting the nation’s mail system from criminal activity.
