MASVINGO – Shylet Mhike, the Masvingo Provincial Education Director, has been arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on charges of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer.
She appeared at the Masvingo Magistrates Court and was granted US$200 bail, with her case set to continue on March 19, 2025.
Fraud Allegations
Mhike is accused of fraudulently claiming US$600 in Travel and Subsistence Allowance for an Accounts Verification Exercise in Chivi District, despite not participating in it.
She allegedly worked with District Schools Inspector Ndongwe Evershine to coerce Chivi District Accountant Tapiwa Mapindani into processing the fraudulent payment.
ZACC continues to crack down on corruption in public institutions, with more arrests expected as investigations progress.
