Martin Harvey Jailed for Downloading Indecent Images

Martin Harvey, a 66-year-old man from Rugby, has been sentenced to two years in prison for downloading nearly 1,000 indecent images of children.

Harvey was being monitored by police under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) following a previous offense. In 2023, investigators discovered that Harvey had deleted his internet browsing history, which violated the terms of his SHPO. A subsequent search revealed a hard drive containing the illegal images.

Harvey admitted that he had “drifted back into the old days” and described his actions as “stupid.” He was charged with breaching his SHPO and for possessing indecent images of children.

At Warwick Crown Court, Harvey was sentenced to two years in prison.

Detective Constable Lauren Cooper of Warwickshire Police stated that the sentence serves as a strong warning to others. She said, “Viewing indecent images of children fuels the market for their sexual abuse. If you’re involved in this, it’s only a matter of time before we catch up with you.”
