Tulsa, OK – A 43-year-old man, Marshall Bratton, was arrested early Sunday morning after attempting to steal copper wire from a Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) substation. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) responded to the scene on East 86th Street North around 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a burglary in progress.
Deputies were informed that a suspect had fled the property and was hiding in a nearby field. Upon arrival, they located Bratton lying in a shallow pond, trying to conceal himself. He was taken into custody without resistance.
TCSO reported that Bratton had been cutting copper wire and placing it outside the substation’s fence with an axe stolen from a tool truck located on the premises. He was also found in possession of a screwdriver, which he had used to remove brackets securing the copper wire.
Bratton was arrested and charged with larceny of copper, entering with intent to steal copper, malicious injury to property over $2,500, obstructing an officer, and second-degree burglary.
