Married Couple, 6 Others Arrested in Drug Peddling in Kashmir

In a series of drug-related arrests across Kashmir, authorities apprehended a married couple involved in drug peddling in Srinagar, along with six other individuals from Kulgam, Ganderbal, and Pulwama.

The first incident occurred during a routine naka checking at Syed Mansoor Zaldagar, where M.R. Gunj police stopped an auto bearing registration number JK01H-9826. Inside the vehicle were Waseem Bashir Sheikh (driver) and Uzma Waseem (passenger), both residents of Hamdania Colony, Bemina. Upon searching the auto, the police discovered a large quantity of narcotic substances. A case under the NDPS Act has been filed, and further investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, in Kulgam, a police team from Police Post Mirbazar arrested Shahid Mushtaq Bhat, a local resident of Furrah, after seizing 1.30 kg of grinded cannabis. A case under FIR No. 05/2025 has been registered, and investigations have begun.

In another operation, police in Srinagar apprehended Waseem Ahmad Bafanda from Dangerpora Mallabagh Hazratbal. He was caught at a checkpoint at Sazgaripora with significant amounts of contraband and Rs 3,020 in cash. Following his arrest, two more individuals, Waqar Ahmad Duloo and Mohammad Rafiq Pattoo, were arrested, and more narcotics were recovered.

On a separate occasion, a police team from Police Station Lar arrested Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir at Benhama Lar, recovering 3.81 kg of bhang patri and 32 grams of charas.

In Pulwama, the police intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle driven by Hilal Ahmed Wani from Zadoora. Upon inspection, 12.650 kg of charas powder was found inside a nylon sack. The vehicle used in the crime was seized as well.

Cases have been filed in the respective police stations, and investigations are currently underway.
