A suspicious person call led to the arrest of Mark Jeffery, a 40-year-old man from Calhoun, Georgia, on Tuesday night, February 11, 2025. Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious individual on Cash Road near Sonoraville at approximately 11:15 p.m., where they discovered Jeffery under the influence of intoxicants and in possession of illegal drugs.
After a search of Jeffery’s vehicle, deputies uncovered a variety of illicit substances, including large amounts of methamphetamine and heroin, oxycodone tablets, ecstasy, Xanax, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana. Additionally, two firearms were found in the truck, which Jeffery was illegally possessing.
Jeffery was arrested without incident and taken to the county jail. He faces multiple charges, including:
Trafficking in Heroin and Methamphetamine
Possession of Schedule II and IV Narcotics
Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms
Weapons Violations
Upon reviewing his criminal history, detectives discovered that Jeffery, a former corrections officer, had been convicted in 2018 for smuggling drugs into a correctional facility. He is now awaiting court appearance on the current charges in Gordon County.
