PUEBLO WEST, Colo. (KKTV) — Two Pueblo men with prior warrants were arrested on Wednesday after attempting to sell stolen tools outside a Walmart in Pueblo West, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The suspects, Mario C. Beltran, 33, and Matthew Keleher, 50, were allegedly planning to meet someone at the Walmart to sell tools stolen from a hardware store in Florence. Police were tipped off by Florence authorities and set up surveillance in the area.
The sheriff’s office detectives spotted the men in a car and observed Beltran attempt to flee on foot when officers approached. He was quickly caught, while Keleher remained in the vehicle and was arrested at the scene.
A pat search revealed that Keleher was carrying two grams of suspected fentanyl. Both men reportedly provided false names to the deputies during the arrest.
Keleher was charged with outstanding warrants, criminal impersonation, and possession of a controlled substance. Beltran was arrested on outstanding warrants and criminal impersonation. Both men were taken to the Pueblo County Jail, and Florence Police are now handling the investigation.
