EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Mariah Kammerer has pleaded guilty to seven felonies in connection to a fatal crash that occurred in Vanderburgh County in September 2023. The charges stem from a crash where Kammerer crashed into a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the interstate near State Road 57.
The collision led to the death of 54-year-old Christina Rogers, who was a passenger in the car. Investigators say Kammerer was speeding and had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) more than two and a half times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Court records show Kammerer pleaded guilty to the following charges:
Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated
Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08 or More
Causing Death When Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance
Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated
Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Motor Vehicle with an ACE of .08
Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle with a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance
Reckless Homicide (Use when offense is not committed by using a motor vehicle)
Kammerer is scheduled for sentencing on December 27, 2024.
