College Station, Texas — A couple has been arrested in College Station, Texas, for allegedly attempting to steal nearly $10,000 worth of merchandise from a local Walgreens store.
According to the College Station Police Department, law enforcement was alerted by the Plano Police Department regarding Maria Stoican and Emmanuel Stoican, a husband-and-wife duo suspected of targeting Walgreens and other businesses across Texas and several other states.
Officers responded to multiple Walgreens locations in College Station, including the store on William D. Fitch Parkway, where they quickly spotted the suspects. The couple was detained and identified, with authorities discovering multiple warrants for both suspects.
Working alongside Walgreens Asset Protection investigators and the Plano Police Department, the College Station Police Department recovered 882 stolen items from Walgreens alone, valued at nearly $10,000.
The Stoicans were identified as Maria Stoican and Emmanuel Stoican, both of whom were wanted for previous thefts in various counties across Texas.
Maria Stoican, who had seven active warrants, is facing local charges, including Failure to Identify as a Fugitive. Her past warrants include:
Burleson Police Department: Theft of property valued between $100 and $750
Euless Police Department: Theft of property valued between $750 and $2,500
Grapevine Police Department: Theft of property valued between $100 and $750
Harris County Sheriff’s Office: Theft of property valued between $100 and $750
Rockford PD (Illinois): Shoplifting (using a fake ID)
Sacramento County (California): Outstanding warrant
Will County (Illinois): Retail theft
Emmanuel Stoican was also wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for theft of property valued between $100 and $750. Additionally, he faces charges for possessing marijuana.
Police confirmed that the Stoicans’ children were present during the alleged crimes. As a result, Child Protective Services took custody of the children, according to College Station Police.
The investigation remains ongoing, with multiple agencies involved in the case.
