Marcus Stroman Arrested After Fleeing Police and Discarding Evidence

ELMIRA, N.Y. — Marcus A. Stroman, 43, of Elmira, was arrested early on January 28 after fleeing from police and discarding multiple items during a chase, including a handgun and drugs.

According to the Elmira Police Department, officers attempted to stop Stroman, who was riding an electric bicycle near College Avenue and West Church Street for traffic violations. When Stroman fled, police pursued him as he discarded several items during the chase. Stroman was eventually apprehended on the 600 block of Columbia Street after falling off his bike.

Upon retracing his route, officers recovered a loaded handgun magazine, narcotics, and a handgun. Stroman faces serious charges, including:

Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (Class C felony)
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree (Class B felony)
Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (Class C felony)
Obstruction in the second degree (Class A misdemeanor)
Additionally, Stroman is facing several vehicle and traffic violations related to his flight from the police.
