A Marco Island man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on drug trafficking charges following a 2021 arrest in Naples.

Timothy Blaine Hickman, 38, was taken into custody after Naples police discovered trafficking amounts of illegal drugs inside a vehicle he occupied, according to the Office of the State Attorney Twentieth Judicial Circuit.

Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
Hickman was a passenger in a suspicious vehicle stopped on Sandpiper Street in Naples. When officers approached, they observed a female driver and Hickman inside. According to the arrest report, police saw a baggie containing a suspected controlled substance, a digital scale with white residue, a large butane lighter, and a backpack at Hickman’s feet.

After detaining both occupants, officers conducted a field test on the baggie’s contents, which confirmed the presence of methamphetamine.

Following his conviction, Hickman was sentenced to two decades behind bars as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.
