Mapusa Woman Accused of Cheating Relative Over Stolen Gold

Anjuna Police have filed a case against a woman from Mapusa, identified as Kalyani, also known as Kanchan Jitendra Harmalkar, for allegedly cheating and stealing gold ornaments from a relative. The complaint was filed by Vidhay Vishant Salgaonkar from Parra, who stated that the incident occurred between December 1 and December 31, 2022. According to the complainant, the accused, a trusted relative, asked to borrow her gold ornaments, promising to return them after using them for a specific purpose.

Trusting the accused, Mrs. Salgaonkar handed over her jewelry. However, the accused reportedly mortgaged the gold at a bank to obtain a loan, using it for her personal gain. Despite repeated assurances, the ornaments were never returned, leading to accusations of deceit and breach of trust.

The Anjuna Police have initiated an investigation into the case and are working to recover the stolen gold ornaments. Authorities are also looking into the bank transactions linked to the mortgage.
