Manoj Kumar and Ashok Kumar Arrested in Rs 8 Lakh Burglary in Dwarka

A 34-year-old man, Manoj Kumar, and his accomplice, Ashok Kumar (39), were arrested in connection with a burglary worth Rs 8 lakh in Dwarka. The crime was allegedly committed by Manoj to buy a wedding anniversary gift for his wife.

The burglary occurred on the night of March 21, when the two men broke into a shop in Kakrola and made off with Rs 8 lakh in cash. Police conducted an extensive investigation, reviewing over 100 CCTV camera recordings and tracking the suspects’ movements. This led to the arrests of the accused—Manoj Kumar on March 28 in Gurgaon and Ashok Kumar on March 30 in Bahadurgarh, said DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh.

Manoj Kumar admitted during interrogation that he was facing financial difficulties and wanted to purchase a mobile phone as an anniversary gift for his wife. Similarly, Ashok Kumar cited his own financial struggles as the reason for his involvement in the crime. Police recovered several items from the accused, including the car used in the crime, house-breaking tools, and four mobile phones—two of which were bought with the stolen money.

Both men had a criminal history and were involved in numerous prior offenses, including at least two dozen cases of burglary, theft, snatching, and robbery. Their arrests also helped solve 12 pending cases across various police stations in Delhi.

Further investigation into their activities is ongoing, authorities said.
