Manitowoc Man Arrested for $30,000 Copper Theft

MANITOWOC COUNTY — Authorities in Manitowoc County have arrested Mark L. Plagemann on multiple charges, including theft, criminal damage to property, and trespassing, following a three-week investigation into a series of copper thefts.

According to a release from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Plagemann on October 23 after uncovering his alleged involvement in the theft of $30,000 worth of copper wire from a local business. The investigation revealed that Plagemann had trespassed on the property to commit the theft.

On October 24, Plagemann appeared at a bail hearing regarding his charges, which include theft, trespassing, criminal damage to property, and possession of burglarious tools, accompanied by an enhancer for habitual criminality. During the hearing, bail was set at $2,500, and Plagemann will remain in custody due to a probation violation.
