Manipur Forces Arrest Two Suspected Drug Smugglers, Seize Brown Sugar

A joint team of Manipur police and Assam Rifles arrested two suspected drug smugglers and seized 1.86 kilograms of Brown Sugar worth approximately Rs 2 crore in the international black market. The operation was conducted based on intelligence received about the individuals carrying contraband from across the Indo-Myanmar border (IMB).

The raid took place on Thursday night near Sericulture Gate No. 2 in the Kwakta Phougakchao area, under the Ikhai Police Station in Bishnupur District, which borders Churachandpur District. The two arrested suspects were identified as Moichingmayum Farid (28) and Md. Amar Shah (29).

From their possession, authorities recovered 1.866 kg of Brown Sugar packed in a plastic bag. Both individuals are now in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway.
