Mangaluru CCB Nabs Murder Suspect Jose Kutty After 30 Years

In a major breakthrough, Mangaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested Jose Kutty, a murder suspect who had been on the run for nearly 30 years. Kutty was involved in the brutal murder and assault case that occurred near the MRPL in the Surathkal police station limits back in 1995.

The case dates back to March 12, 1995, when Abdullah, the owner of Rakshak Industrial Security Institute, had hired several security guards for a Delhi-based company. On the night of the incident, at around 10:30 p.m., three unknown individuals approached the site where the guards—Suresh, Narayan, and Devanna—were on duty. The guards questioned their presence at such a late hour, which led to an altercation. In the ensuing scuffle, Narayan was fatally attacked, succumbing to severe injuries.

At the same time, another altercation involving the suspects occurred near the canteen at the MRPL site, where two suspects, Achhan Kunju and Jose Kutty, got into a fight with local laborers. Thomas, a relative of the suspects, attempted to intervene but was severely injured after being attacked with an iron rod. He was later hospitalized for his injuries.

The Surathkal police registered cases for both incidents, linking Achhan Kunju and Jose Kutty to the murder of Narayan. However, despite extensive efforts to apprehend them over the years, the suspects managed to evade capture. After committing the crime, Kunju and Kutty fled to Kerala before going into hiding in various states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.
