Mandya Police Arrest Three, Recover Gold, Silver, and Stolen Bike

Mandya Police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in multiple thefts, recovering 460 grams of gold, 2.5 kg of silver, and a stolen bike, all valued at Rs 42 lakh. The arrests were made following a series of investigations into several theft cases across Mandya district and Mysuru city.

On February 9, two bike-borne criminals, identified as Shringar (25) from T Narasipur and S Chetan (25) from Kannalli village, snatched a gold Mangalasutra (70 grams) and a chain from Paramesh’s wife at Belakawadi while they were traveling to the Mudaktore Temple. The total value of the stolen jewellery amounted to Rs 3.2 lakh.

During their interrogation, the police discovered that the duo had been involved in numerous thefts in various locations, including Belakawadi, Mandya Rural, and Lakshmipuram. Authorities also recovered 286 grams of stolen gold jewellery and the stolen bike used in the crime, valued at Rs 24.2 lakh.

Additionally, police arrested K Prasanna (40) from Bairapattana village, who was involved in a burglary case at Agasanapura village on August 22. During this break-in, 45 grams of gold, 5 kg of silver, and Rs 35,000 in cash were stolen, totaling Rs 17.9 lakh. Investigations revealed that Prasanna had been involved in several other theft cases in the area.

The Mandya Police also responded to a viral video showing a young man threatening another individual while sitting in a cemetery. The authorities have detained several individuals for questioning and are continuing their investigation into the incident.

In response to increasing anti-social activities, the police have opened history sheets against 30 individuals and have conducted surprise raids to ensure public safety.

Lastly, the SP clarified that an explosion in Kambadahalli village involving two students was caused by unused crackers dumped after a festival on December 28. The explosion was confirmed to have been caused by the crackers by a team of experts.
