Man Arrested for Murder of Co-worker in Thane, Escaped to J&K

A 21-year-old man, Sabir Rahamtullah Ansari, has been arrested in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, for allegedly killing his co-worker at a powerloom factory in Thane district, Maharashtra. The accused, originally from East Champaran in Bihar, and the victim, Neeraj Kumar Gopinath Vishwakarma (40) from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, worked together at the factory in Khoni village, Bhiwandi.

The incident occurred on February 4, when Sabir Ansari reportedly robbed the victim of his salary and then attacked him with an iron hammer, targeting his head and forehead. After the assault, Ansari fled, and the victim was rushed to KEM Hospital in Mumbai, where he died from his injuries on February 18.

Initially, the police believed that the accused had fled to Delhi, so a special police team was dispatched to track him down. However, by the time the team arrived, Ansari had already left Delhi. The police used CCTV footage from railway stations and tracked his mobile phone to find his location. They eventually discovered that he had boarded a train to Jammu and Kashmir.

With the help of Jammu and Kashmir police, the team located Ansari in Anantnag and apprehended him on Sunday at a bakery in Lal Chowk. The police recovered a stolen mobile phone and ₹29,000 in cash from him.

After his arrest, the accused was brought back to Bhiwandi for further investigation, with the police continuing their probe into the case.
