MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Malik Wills, 18, has now been arrested three times since April and is currently facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Local residents like truck driver Joie Smith expressed frustration over the recurring violence. “These people out here ain’t got no hope no more, that’s the problem,” Smith told FOX13.
Wills’ legal troubles began in April when he was arrested for fleeing from a stolen vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance. In May, he was arrested again for allegedly firing shots into an occupied home and was released on $50,000 bail.
His most recent arrest stems from a shooting at an American Deli, where a DoorDash driver was injured. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the victim fleeing the scene and later seeking help at a hospital. The victim is now in stable condition.
Police say Wills turned himself in and confessed to the shooting. His court date is scheduled for late July.
