Malda Police Seizes Narcotics Worth Rs3.3 Crore, 7 Arrested

On Wednesday, Malda Police in West Bengal conducted two successful raids, leading to the seizure of narcotics worth Rs3.3 crore and the arrest of seven individuals, including a woman.

In the first raid, a team from Kaliachak police station targeted the residence of Abdul Karim in the Haruchak-Mozompur area. The police recovered 2.915 kilos of brown sugar, a derivative of heroin, along with 5.946 kilos of sodium carbonate and a glass container of acetyl chloride. The estimated value of the seized items was Rs3 crore. Six individuals were arrested during this operation.

In a second raid, the Englishbazar police station, along with the state police special task force, arrested Babita Mandal from the JB Mallikapara-Jalulabadhal area of Kaliachak. Police recovered 310 grams of brown sugar, valued at approximately Rs30 lakh. Babita claimed she was acting as a courier and was supposed to deliver the narcotics to a person in Champasari, Siliguri. During questioning, she revealed that she had obtained the brown sugar from a woman in Jalalpur, Kaliachak.

Investigations are ongoing, and the police are working to identify others involved in the narcotics trade.
