In a shocking turn of events, a major theft has been uncovered at the Blue Dart Parcel Service Center in Surat’s Udhna area. The thieves, all employees of the service center, staged a fire to cover up their crime, but thanks to prompt police action, their elaborate scheme was quickly unraveled, leading to the arrest of three suspects.
The incident occurred at the parcel service center, located opposite the Pandesara Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple. The accused—Gopal Vasudev Banisipi, a security guard; Badrubhai Bhukan, a newly hired employee; and Zakir Muhammad Ali Syed, the center’s supervisor—made off with a staggering Rs34.6 lakh in cash and valuables. In a bid to erase evidence of their theft, the employees set the center on fire.
When the Udhna police responded to the emergency, they immediately grew suspicious due to the lack of burned items and inconsistencies in the testimonies provided by the suspects. Upon further investigation, it became clear that the fire was deliberately set to destroy evidence of the theft.
Through intensive questioning and evidence collection, the police managed to uncover the full extent of the crime. The accused individuals were arrested, and the authorities successfully recovered Rs35 lakh in cash, along with 40 mobile phones, DVRs, and laptops. Additionally, further investigation revealed that these suspects were also involved in thefts totaling over Rs40 lakh in the nearby Athwa area.
The swift action of the Udhna police has not only led to the recovery of stolen goods but has also provided a sense of security to the local community. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the criminal activities.
This case serves as a stern reminder of the lengths some individuals will go to in order to cover up their crimes. It also highlights the importance of vigilance and thorough investigation by law enforcement in uncovering even the most carefully staged scams.
