In a significant drug bust, Hyderabad police have uncovered a clandestine drug manufacturing operation at the Sri Yadadri Life Sciences Chemical Factory in Ramajipet village, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. Law enforcement agencies seized 120 kg of ephedrine worth Rs 24 crore, which was destined for Mumbai. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the illegal operation.
The factory had previously been sealed by the Pollution Control Board, but it continued to operate illegally, producing large quantities of the banned drug. Acting on intelligence reports, a joint operation was conducted by Yadadri-Bhongir zone police and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB). Special teams intercepted two Hyundai Verna cars near the Bibinagar toll plaza, seizing 100 kg of ephedrine from one of the vehicles. Following the arrest, police raided the Sri Yadadri Life Sciences Chemical Factory and seized an additional 15 kg of the drug, along with manufacturing equipment.
Further investigation led to the seizure of another 5 kg of ephedrine from Ismail, who was arrested in Jeedimetla.
The operation began when N Krishna Reddy, a realtor, was approached by Ismail of Jeedimetla to manufacture banned substances. Reddy collaborated with Vasudeva Chary, the factory owner, who enlisted the help of Satyanarayana, a skilled chemist. They were promised large commissions for their involvement in the illicit operation.
Krishna Reddy, Faizan Ahmad Israr Ahmad (working for Mumbai-based drug receivers), and Chepru Sunil (Reddy’s driver) were arrested. The factory owner, Vasudeva Chary, Satyanarayana, their associate Bhanu Prasad, and other key figures, including Ahmad’s handler, Salman Saleem Shaik Dola, and his assistant Salman, remain at large.
