A man from Phillips, Maine, is facing burglary charges after authorities discovered over $3,000 worth of stolen power tools during a search of his home.
On Wednesday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on Blake Hill Road in Phillips, uncovering the stolen tools.
Stephen Haines, 51, was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property. He was subsequently taken to the Franklin County Jail.
The search was part of an ongoing investigation into burglary incidents in Phillips. Authorities had previously arrested 34-year-old Stephen Kennedy of Phillips on November 27. The investigation led them to search his home on Pleasant Street, along with two other locations.
During the search, deputies seized 62 stolen items, including power tools, camping equipment, a large safe, dirt bikes, chainsaws, and a boat motor. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated to be over $20,000, with the thefts occurring over the past four months.
