A medical shop near the Periyar bus stand in Madurai was sealed on Monday, and its owner, A. Abdul Rahman, 23, from Jaihindpuram, was arrested for illegally selling intoxicating drugs and tablets without prescriptions.
The incident unfolded when a police team from Sellur was on patrol duty and spotted a man moving suspiciously. Upon questioning, the individual, identified as M. Udhayakumar, 21, from Tagore Nagar, was found in possession of intoxicating drugs and empty syringes. During interrogation, Udhayakumar revealed that he had purchased the drugs from a medical shop located on Tirupparankundram Road.
The police immediately took action, leading to the arrest of Abdul Rahman and the sealing of his medical shop. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the illegal sales and possible connections to other crimes.
