An extraordinary case of theft involving identical twins has emerged in Madhya Pradesh, leaving police authorities in a state of confusion. The twin brothers, Saurabh Verma and Sanjeev Verma, used an ingenious method to mislead police and execute their robberies. While one of them committed the crime, the other ensured his presence was captured on CCTV footage at a completely different location, creating a solid alibi.
This clever trick meant that if the brother involved in the robbery was ever caught, he would present the CCTV footage as evidence to prove he wasn’t at the scene, thus avoiding suspicion. The scheme had left police baffled for quite some time until they eventually uncovered the ruse and arrested the brothers.
The latest heist took place on December 23, when the twins targeted a vacant house in Mauganj City. They broke into the house, forced open cupboards and boxes, and stole valuables worth lakhs of rupees, including jewellery and cash.
Following the robbery, a massive manhunt was launched. Eventually, the police arrested Saurabh Verma, one of the suspects. However, the case took an unexpected twist when Sanjeev Verma, his twin brother, appeared at the police station. He claimed to be the person already arrested, causing confusion among the officers.
After a thorough interrogation, the police uncovered the twins’ elaborate plan. The brothers had gone to great lengths to maintain the illusion by dressing identically and avoiding living together, which kept most people unaware of their twin status.
The police managed to recover stolen jewellery worth lakhs from the brothers, bringing an end to their deceptive crime spree.
