Lynn Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges in Brighton

Officers from the Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit arrested Jaron Manon, 27, of Lynn, on drug trafficking charges Monday evening in Brighton after a thorough investigation and traffic stop led to the discovery of various illegal substances and a weapon.

At approximately 7:05 p.m., police officers were conducting surveillance in the area of 19 Farrington Street when they observed two men engaging in suspicious activity. One man was seen handing a cellphone to another near a building’s entryway, and the two were seen entering and exiting a parked vehicle multiple times before attempting to drive away.

A traffic stop was initiated on Linden Street after officers noticed the vehicle had a defective backup light. During the stop, the driver, later identified as Manon, refused to comply with officers’ orders to keep his hands visible, leading to a struggle as he was removed from the vehicle.

Upon searching Manon, officers recovered a large bag of cocaine. Meanwhile, a rear passenger in the vehicle attempted to reach for a knife but was quickly disarmed by the officers. A second passenger, a female, was found to be in possession of a bag containing mushrooms, Adderall, and multiple glass pipes used for drug consumption. Further investigation revealed prescription pill bottles containing various pills that were not prescribed to the vehicle owner.

Manon is facing several charges, including trafficking of Class B drugs and operating after suspension. He is set to be arraigned in Brighton District Court. The other two individuals were given court summonses on drug possession charges.
